Easter Coffee Event

We are holding an Easter Coffee Event in Laburnum Rd Library this Friday 27th March from 10.00am till 12.30pm then from 1.30pm till 3,30pm.There will be many Easter Eggs to be won,tea coffee and cakes all day at very reasonable prices.There will also be a  Tombola and bric-a-brac stall.We are holding a raffle with an Easter Cake as first prize (thanks to Michelle)with many more prizes.See you there all welcome

Coffee Event

A Coffee Event with Stalls will be held in the Masonic Hall High St Redcar on Friday 20th February from 10am till 4.00pm.This is being organised by Zetland Park Community Group and the Friends of Redcar Cemetery will have a stall.There will be tombola,raffle and .Spin the Wheel’.Everyone Welcome

World War1Family Memorials in Redcar Cemetery

The Friends of Redcar Cemetery would like to apeal to any person or family who are the owners of family graves in the old part of Redcar cemetery that commemorates the loss during WW1 on the battlefield..It is our intention to refurbish these memorials as part of the  centenary celebration We are looking to refurbish these memorials at no cost to the family unless offered bearing in mind the age of these structures…Any person reading this can contact the group by e-mail gedfleming50@gmail.com or dotahmed@btinternet.com.We look forward to hearing from you.Ged Fleming Chairman.


The Friends open meeting will be held on the 14th January at 6.15pm in the upper Zetland rooms St Peter’s Church, Redcar Lane, Redcar. There will be a talk by Peter Chester on the men of Redcar who lost their lives in WW1. New members welcome. If you have a concern about the cemetery or would like to hear the plans for 2015 please come you will be most welcome. Remembrance Walk

Remembrance walk of the great war.

Walks led by one of the Friends of Redcar Cemetery group who will recount the stories of people commemorated.

Redcar Cemetery, Redcar Lane

11am (walk lasts about an hour)

Walk is free to all, please book a place by calling 01642 478349 we can accommodate small groups by arrangement.

We will meet under the arch of the old part of the cemetery.

Please wear suitable footwear as ground is uneven at times.

  • Time Bandits: Costumed Re-enactors offer an insight into life in the First World War.
  • The Tees Valley Pod: A touring exhibition giving a brief overview of the effects of WWI across the Tees Valley.
  • Book Signing: John Harland Watson, the author of ‘Aces High at Redcar: The history of Redcar Royal Navy air station 1915 to 1919’
  • Film Preview: A chance to see, and buy a copy of, ‘Redcar Remembers’ documentary.
  • Pop up Exhibition: Eight colourful banners tell the story of life in Redcar during WWI.
  • Share Your Stories: Members of FORCEM will listen to your family stories , and may photograph your memorabilia for future projects.
  • Working model of Sopwith Pup: Gary Jones’ model will be on display.
  • Blackburn Kangaroo Tail Piece: Opportunity to see an original part of a WWI aircraft, found in a skip by FORCEM members.
